Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati ridiculed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s diktat to his MPs and MlAs to submit details of their bank accounts terming the move as a ‘farce’.
“Asking party leaders to give details of their accounts between November 8 and December 30 is just another drama by Modiji to fool the people. If he was really intersted in transparency then all BJP leaders as well as their party offices should reveal their accounts and property details which were purchased since January 1 this year,” dared Mayawati.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the BSP chief alleged that BJP leaders had already converted their ‘black’ income into ‘white’ after which Modi announced the so-called ‘secret plan’ of demonestisation.
“Just before demonetisation, a large number of properties were bought by the BJP and its president,” she charged referring to the media reports that the party bought several land tracts in Bihar weeks ahead of the demonetisation move on November 8.
“Many State units of BJP also deposited huge sums just before the announcement . All these exposes the ‘truth’ about Modi’s ‘secret plan,” she alleged.
Terming the demonetisation move as a ‘huge scam’ and ‘economic emergency’, Mayawati said that that it is strange that the PM had preferred to be oblivious to the problems of the common masses which claimed so many lives.
“People are facing starvation, deaths, have no money to treat their kin or even cremate them. But our PM said that the honest people were happy and sleeping in peace while those with black money were having sleepless nights after the demonetisation move. Only industrialists friends or top businessmen close to Narendra Modi were happy and having a sound sleep,” Mayawati charged.
Recalling Modi’s promise of bringing back black money stashed in foreign banks, the former UP Chief Minister said that instead of fulfilling his promise, Modi ji made a move to divert attention from the failure of the BJP as most people were busy standing in queues to get their own money.
“The PM also wanted to divert people’s attention from the deaths of Army personnel in Jammu and Kashmir after the much publicised `surgical strike’ which was meant to be capitalised in the coming Assembly polls,” Mayawati alleged.
