Trying to resurrect itself in Uttar Pradesh, Congress, which has been monitoring the political developments in the crucial poll bound State, expressed its concern over the latest political instability arising in Uttar Pradesh.
AICC chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala on Friday said that though Congress has a culture of not delving into internal divisions within a political party, Congress is deeply concerned about growing political instability in UP.
“More alarming are the reports that BJP is dreaming of assuming power through the back door by fishing in the troubled waters. BJP earlier tried it in neighbouring State of Uttarakhand and failed. The Congress Government was similarly brought down in Arunanchal Pradesh by engineering defections. We sincerely hope that the Modi Government would take the cue from strictures passed in the two cases by the Supreme Court and will not abuse the powers of Union Government or the office of Governor to disrespect people’s mandate,” Surjewala said in a statement reacting to the Samajwadi Party feud.
Senior JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav termed the events as very unfortunate and declined to comment more on the issue stating that this is an internal matter of the party. Yadav was in regular tough with SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav during the Janta Parivar merger talks and was exploring for an alliance for Bihar Assembly polls which ultimately did not materialise after SP General secretary Ram Gopal Yadav exercised his veto against the partnership.
