New Delhi: With an aim to promote cashless economy, the railways has offered discount on booking of season tickets and retiring rooms if the payment is made digitally. The railways has decided that 0.5 per cent discount on base fare of season tickets (monthly, quarterly, half yearly, yearly) in suburban section will be granted from next month if the payment is made through digital means like debit, credit cards. It has been decided that five per cent discount would be offered on booking of retiring rooms through digital means, a senior railway ministry official said.

New Delhi: 1981 batch Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS) officer, Archana Nigam, has taken over as Controller General of Accounts (CGA), Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance from January 1, 2017. Nigam has vast experience in Accounting and Finance having worked in various capacities in a number of Central Ministries in her career spanning 35 years. A Graduate in Psychology (Hons) from lady Shri Ram College Delhi University, Nigam is also a law Graduate from DU. Nigam has been involved in the critical task of setting up of the Accounting Framework for the GST regime to be launched by Government in the next Financial Year.
