The Delhi Government has directed the private unaided recognised schools, running on the land of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and land and Development Office, to withhold the admission process which the later had announced to start from January 1.
In a circular issued by the Directorate of Education (Schools), the private schools have been asked to wait till further orders.
Delhi Government spokesperson Nagendra Sharma told The Pioneer that the file is lying with the lieutenant-Governor’s office and thus the “delay”.
“Withholding the admission process in the private unaided recognised running on the land allotted by DDA/land DO etc. with the condition to ensure the admission in neighbourhood and locality under open seats for the academic session 2017-18,” said Ashima Jain, Additional Director of Education in a statement on Friday.
The department has noticed that some of these schools have issued the admission notice to start the admission process from January 2 in violation of the directions, said the statement.
“All the private unaided recognised schools running on the land allotted by DDA/l&DO etc. with the condition that ‘the school shall not refuse admission of the resident of the locality’ or ‘the society shall undertake to admit 75 per cent of the students of the neighbourhood or from or from the locality in which the school is located ‘ have been restrained from commencing the admission process till the separate guidelines are issued in this regard,” it added.
Out of 1,700 schools, 1,400 schools are the private unaided recognised schools while 285 are those on the Government land.
The DoE had earlier instructed, in its circular of announcing the Nursery admissions that a separate guidelines would be issued for the schools of the Government land.
