A three-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a private school cab driver who daily dropped the girl back home after school in North Delhi’s Sarai Rohilla area.

Police said after the girl’s mother informed them about the incident they arrested the cab driver from his house on Friday.

Police said the incident had taken place at Sunday afternoon, but was reported only on Wednesday evening after the girl could finally muster up the courage to tell her mother what had happened. The girl’s mother told police that she noticed that her daughter was unusually quiet for the last few days and decided to ask her what had happened.

The mother told police that at first she thought that her daughter has caught cold, as a result of which she is not talking to anyone. She said her daughter even avoided going to play with her friends.

She said her daughter finally broke down and told her that the cab driver used to drop her home after dropping all the children and used to touch her inappropriately. She said the man used to threaten her that he will start doing this every day if she tells anyone about the incident.

The girl’s mother, who is a staff nurse at a hospital near their house, immediately informed police about the incident and a case was registered at the Sarai Rohilla police station, based on the woman’s statement.

“A team was formed to nab the accused person and we were able to apprehend and arrest the man from his house,” said a senior police official.

Police said they are probing into whether the man has previously been involved in any such case. They said they have sent the girl for counselling.
