Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of the wife of a property dealer, who was murdered in Ghaziabad three days ago. Her paramour has also been taken into custody.
Dheeraj Singh was shot dead and his father Jagvir Singh was seriously wounded by unknown persons on the night of June 26 when they were watching television at their farmhouse. Jagvir Singh is still battling for life.
Superintendent of Police (City) Salman Taj Patil quoted Dheeraj Singh’s uncle as saying that the attack was led by Jaideep Sirohi, Naresh, Bheekar and Babbal. Police verified the facts through the CCTV cameras, in which two persons were seen attacking father and son when they were watching television in their farmhouse on Sunday night.
Police said the conspiracy was hatched by Dheeraj’s wife Preeti Singh and her lover Varun Singh, a cousin of Dheeraj. Preeti and Varun were reportedly in a relationship. The two planned to eliminate Dheeraj so that Preeti could be the sole heir to her husband’s property.
During investigation, police found that Jaideep was hired as a shooter. During interrogation, Varun told police that Dheeraj possessed huge property worth over Rs5 to 7 crore. He also had planned to marry Preeti.
Patil said the lovers had confessed their role in the crime. Police are now hunting for Jaideep Sirohi and his associates.
