A 32-year-old man, the nephew of a 30-year-old murdered woman, was arrested on charges of allegedly killing her following a failed attempt to sexually assault her in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri area.
According to a senior police official of the Outer district, the body of the woman, 30-year-old Pushpa, was found with slit throat at her house, that was locked from outside on December 28. Police has arrested her 32-year-old nephew, identified as Ravi, said a senior police officer.
The senior police official said, “Ravi used to visit his aunt’s place often since he liked her. She kept resisting his advances but on December 28, he visited her and tried to force himself on her. When she protested and raised an alarm, he thought that he would be caught and in a bid to silence her, he slit her throat and left after locking the house,”
The accused had thrown his mobile phone in a canal while he had also hid his blood-soaked clothes. The incident came to the fore on Wednesday night at around 10:30pm only when the husband of the woman, Anil came to the house and found the door locked, said a senior police official on Friday.
He tried to reach his wife on her mobile phone but it was found to be switched off. Police said Anil searched the nearby market and neighbours’ houses for Pushpa but she couldn’t be traced.

He made a PCR call and the cops broke down the door and found her body.
