In order to assist the traders of Delhi, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday launched a six-digit helpline no. 155055. Sisodia said the helpline will facilitate the traders in guiding them in starting new business, help in filing various forms and availing various services provided by VAT Department apart from answering the queries on various services, policy matters and system issues.

He said the helpline will also provide information on legal issues. “The helpline will also receive the complaints and it will automatically escalate these complaints to the senior officers, if the complaint of the traders is not redressed in given time frame. Thereafter, this will provide feedback on resolution of the complaint to the complainant. The helpline will receive suggestions about the Policies, Rules & Acts and it will also receive the complaints/ information of tax evasion, Sisodia said.

The Deputy CM advised VAT Commissioner SS Yadav to further improve the helpline by instructing the officers, who are executing the helpline to randomly check the telephone calls at least five times a day for ascertaining about its better implementation.

Speaking on the occasion, VAT Commissioner Yadav informed the gathering about this unique facility provided by the Government to the traders to seek solution for their problems. He said that through this helpline, the Government will also ensure the silent monitoring of the trade which is a non-interactive enforcement.

According to a Press statement, the helpline will function 14 hours a day from 8 am to 10 pm.
