Days after an 18-year-old boy was stabbed to death more than 25 times at a DDA park over a love triangle in West Delhi’s Nihal Vihar, the Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested the two accused.
According to police, the two arrested have been identified as Shamshad (20) and Sunil Pal (19). Police said they have recovered blood stained knife and clothes from the possession of the accused.
Police said on November 26 around 9:20 pm, they received information from a hospital that a boy had been brought with multiple stab injuries all over his body.
A senior investigator said on the same day at around 7 pm, Salauddin got a call from one Sunil Pal that he had a quarrel with some people at a DDA Park. One of the victim’s friend, Monu told police that they were merrily drinking with his friends in his Alto car near a Hotel in Janakpuri, which was when Salauddin, along with his friends rushed to the park, and found Sunil and Shamshad sitting on a rock.
Shamshad took Salauddin in a corner and started quizzing him if he was talking to a girl known to Shamshad. Before Salauddin could reply, Shamshad started stabbing him. In the meantime, Sunil threatened Monu and others not to intervene or else they too would be killed. After stabbing Salauddin, the duo-Sunil and Shamshad fled from the spot.
“Based on technical surveillance and local intelligence, on November 29, police arrested Shamshad and Sunil were arrested from Chander Vihar area,” said Vijay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).
“During sustained interrogation, Shamshad and Sunil admitted to committing the crime. The duo revealed that Shamshad was close friends with Salauddin. In 2015, Shamshad and Salauddin had gone to a village in Mubarakpur where Shamshad met a girl and befriended her.
The victim somehow managed to obtain the number of that girl and started harassing her. When Shamshad got to know about this, he became furious and on November 25 night, Shamshad met Sunil at a wedding and hatched a plan to kill Salauddin”, the police official added.
