A 40-year-old constable, posted with the Police Control Room (PCR) unit was allegedly beaten up and his uniform ripped off when he tried to sort out a scuffle between two groups of people in West Delhi’s Nihal Vihar area on Sunday night.
A police official said, “In a bid to frame the constable in a false case, one of the accused reportedly hit his head with a brick and threatened the constable of filing a case if the latter reported the matter to the higher authorities.”
According to the senior police official of the West district, two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Police said the incident happened around 8:30 pm in the Shiv Vihar area of Nilothi Extension.
Two people Arjun Singh and Ram Singh got into a heated argument with their neighbours when the latter objected to the duo for creating chaos outside their house.
After one of the group made the PCR call, constable Ravinder posted with the West Zone of the Police Control Room unit reached the spot. When he tried to intervene, one of the groups, led by Arjun Singh and Ram Singh started arguing with him.
The argument escalated into a scuffle when the duo started beating Ravinder and also tore off his uniform. At the time of the incident, the duo even damaged the PCR van.
A police official of the West district said Ravinder somehow managed to reach the Nihal Vihar Police station and filed a complaint against the two people.
A senior police officer, said the accused has been arrested. Police said they have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code at the Nihal Vihar police station. Further investigation is still on.
