Cabbie killed with screw driver

In a shocking incident of road rage, a 24-year-old Uber cab driver was allegedly stabbed to death with screw driver by three unidentified people after a heated argument.

Police said the incident took place around 12.10 am on Sunday at Sector-14-A Noida near Delhi border. Police said the deceased has been identified as Gaurav Chauhan (24), a native of Bulandshahr distict in Uttar Pradesh. He lived along with his family in Noida’s Chalera village and was working with Uber. No arrest has been made yet.

The trouble started after the victim’s cab hit a car and a bike. Four assailants on the car and bike attacked the victim and two others with a screw driver, according to police.

Three people, who were on bike, attacked the cabbie and his two relatives. They stabbed the cabbie five times using a screw driver. All the accused then fled the spot leaving him in a pool of blood inside the car, said police.

After being informed, a police team reached the spot. The driver was immediately rushed to a Noida’s private hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead due to excessive bleeding, said police officials. 

Police said the victim Gaurav, along with a cousin Monu and another relative, was returning home after attending a wedding ceremony in Trilokpuri of east Delhi on Sunday late night. They were travelling in an Uber cab. As they reached near Sector-14-A flyover, which is close to SSP office, his car hit another car and a bike resulting in a heated argument between both the groups leading to the assault.

Victim’s cousin told police that all of a sudden  three people on a bike overtook their car and when the cab hit a car and the bike, they started beating them. The scuffle turned brutal and they started stabbing Gaurav, said victims’s cousin.

Assistant Superintendent of police (ASP), Noida, Gaurav Grover said, “We have registered an FIR against four unknown persons under Section-302 of Indian Penal Code at Sector-20 police station. “CCTV cameras were not found installed in and around the incident spot. Police teams have been formed to arrest the accused and investigation is on. The victim was living with a married woman in a live-in relationship,” the ASP added.
