In order to curtail the administrative work of the medical superintendents, the State health department has decided to appoint four to five medical superintendents (MSs) under the supervision of medical director of the hospital.
Delhi’s Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Friday said the major hospitals, which cater to more than thousand patients a day such as Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) hospital, Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) hospital, lok Nayak Hospital and Ambedkar Hospital, will have more than one MS in the hospital. This is being done to provide patients with best medical care, he said.
These MSs will be for the departments such as for Mother and Child Healthcare (MCH), Surgery and Allied Services, Surgery and Medical Services and Accident and Emergency Services respectively who will be supervised by one director.
Talking to The Pioneer, Medical Superintendent of GTB hospital said there will be MS for Mother and Child Healthcare, MS Surgery and allied services, MS for surgery and Medical Services and MS for Dem Block and MS for Accident and emergency services patients, who will look after these departments and will be guided by the director of the hospital. Basically, this is done to manage the functioning of the hospital to give best patient care, said Dr Sunil Kumar, MS of GTB hospital.
Similaly, DDU, Ambedkar, lNH will also have more than one MS for the hospitals. The Medical Superintendent Dr YK Sarin of lNH said the hospital will have medical superintendents for MCH, Surgery and allied services, Surgery and Medical Services, Accident and Emergency Services and Advanced Pediatrics Centre.
The smaller hospitals such as Bhagwan Mahavir and others will have only two MS who will look after the MCH and accident and emergency services.
