3 carrying Rs30 lakh detained

The city police have detained three people who were allegedly carrying Rs30 lakh in old currency notes. According to police, the suspects were picked up on Tuesday morning at a police check post near Galleria market.

“At a routine check post, we got suspicious of a car coming from Iffco Chowk metro station. We signalled to the car driver to stop. When he stopped the car, we searched the vehicle and found Rs30 lakh in old currency notes.

“When questioned about the source of the currency, they could not provide any evidence. They were questioned at length but they but they couldn’t give us satisfy answers. We immediately detained all the three persons,” police said. However, one of the detained persons said he can prove that the recovered notes are not black money.

“We have just detained the three people related with the old currency. We have handed over them to the IT Department. Further investigations are going on,” said Inspector, Vishal Kumar, SHO Sector-29 police station.
