Cong condemns Govt’s decision to close GRCs
The Delhi Congress has strongly condemned the AAP Government’s decision to shut down the Gender Resource Centres (GRCs) from May 31 and demanded immediate withdrawal of the order, and allow the GRCs to function properly by giving them every support. Addressing a Press conference at the DPCC office, chief spokesperson Sharmistha Mukherjee on Monday said the GRCs were created for empowering women from the underprivileged background. She said the GRCs had been rendering valued services to the marginalised and the underprivileged sections of society, as it was a flagship programme of the Congress Government in Delhi. Former Delhi Health Minister Kiran Walia and Municipal Councillor Prerna Singh were also present.
MTNl starts high speed broadband services
To fulfill its mission of providing world class telecom and IT related services at affordable price, the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam limited (MTNl) has started high speed broadband and digital voice services in Victoria Gardens residential area of North Delhi. The MTNl will be providing these services using optical fibre to the Home Technology (FTTH). The MTNl has signed an agreement with Radius Infratel Private limited for providing high speed broadband, voice and other video services on FTTH using last mile optical access network of Radius. Executive Director MTNl Sunil Kumar, PGM (O) NK Joshi and Mukul Kamble HM (North) of MTNl were among the senior officer present at the occasion. MTNl has also started FTTH services in CWG village, Tughlakabad area and also launched in Dwarka early this month.
Japanese envoy calls on Delhi CM
Japanese Ambassador to India Kenji Hiramatsu on Monday called on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and discussed several projects, including the AAP Government’s ambitious elevated bus corridors plan to ease traffic congestion in the city. Apart from that, transportation, water, sewage system, earthquake-resistant buildings and other developmental projects were also discussed during the meeting. The meeting was also attended by PWD Minister Satyendar Jain and Dialogue and Development Commission (DDC) Vice Chairman Ashish Khetan. “The main project discussed during the meeting was the Delhi Government’s project of dedicated elevated bus corridors in the city to ease out traffic congestion,” said a senior Government official.
DTC revises fare of Noida bus service
Following the UP Government’s revision of the city bus fare in Noida, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has also revised the fare of the bus routes operating between Delhi and Noida in order to have uniformity of fare. The fare has been revised in Noida, UP Territory only. Accordingly, the non-AC bus fares in Noida have been revised to Rs 5 for 3 kms, Rs 8 for 3 to 5 kms, Rs 12 for 5 to 10 kms, Rs 15 for 10 to 15 kms and Rs 20 above 15 kms. As per the new fare structure, in ordinary city buses Rs 2 per passenger MCD toll tax is charged, earlier it was Rs 4 per passenger. In AC buses, the fare structure and MCD toll tax are being charged as usual.
