Telecom infrastructure major Indus Towers on Tuesday said it plans to set up over 500 modern mobile towers with an investment of around Rs 100 crore in next 12 months. “We have already invested around Rs 20-25 crore in setting up over 100 next generation mobile towers. They are future ready for projects like smartcities, can be used for street lighting, surveillance etc. We will be investing Rs 100 crore or more for setting up next 500 towers,” Indus Towers CEO Bimal Dayal told reporters here.
The company has come up with new designs of mobile towers that can be camouflaged with surroundings where they are installed. “We will be setting up next 500 towers across 50 cities. The new designs will camouflage mobile towers. There are compact designs, palm tree design, standalone poles etc and in some cases it may not be easy to identify them. They will have diesel-free power back-up,” Indus Towers Chief Operating Officer Tejinder Kalra said.
