In an apparent bid to counter the Opposition’s allegations of a tacit understanding with the BJP, the Trinamool Congress has decided to hit the streets from June 20 to highlight the communal politics of the BJP Government.
Addressing a meeting of senior leaders, party chairperson and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee decided that from June 20 “we will hit the streets to sensitise the masses about the communal politics of BJP and about the political bankruptcy of CPI(M),” State Youth Affairs Minister Aroop Biswas said.
Opposition CPI-M and the Congress have accused the TMC and the BJP of reaching a tacit understanding that the CBI will go slow on the Saradha scam probe and the latter will in turn help the BJP in passing bills in the Rajya Sabha where it does not have a majority.
The meeting was held at the CM’s residence majorly to discuss the preparation and operational issues for the July 21 Martyrs’ Day rally.
