Youth Cong protests land Ordinance

Saturday, 31 January 2015 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Members of the Youth Congress on Friday staged a demonstration near the Raj Bhavan here demanding immediate withdrawal of the land Acquisition Ordinance of the Central Government. Supporters and workers of the Youth Congress came in a procession from the Bhubaneswar ADM office before holding the protest meeting. The youth leaders condemned the Ordinance calling it “anti-farmer and anti-people”.

Youth Congress workers later submitted a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir demanding withdrawal of the Ordinance. Participating in the demonstration, PCC president Prasad Harichandan said the Modi Government’s move is not only aimed at killing farmers, for which the Youth Congress has launched agitation across the country. “In the coming days, we will intensify our agitation and take the issue to the streets,” said Harichandan. The party’s deputy in-charge of the State Subhankar Sarkar and other senior leaders also spoke at the rally.
