World Rest Day celebrated at Bhadrak

Thursday, 31 December 2015 | PNS | BHADRAK

The celebration of “World Rest Day” with a unique concept of “Give Permanent Rest to Negativity and Be Positive” remains a milestone in the era of terrorism and pollution. The day was observed for the second time at Bhadrak on Wednesday (December 30.

Elaborating the purpose of this celebration, founder of the day noted social activist Radhakanta Tripathy emphasised the importance of rest in the lives of humans, animals and plants. Rest is also important to maintain a balanced life physically, mentally and spiritually, he said.

Permanent rest should be given to the instincts like greediness, terrorism, polluted thoughts. Environment should not be disturbed due to human intervention. It is an initiative not to encourage idleness or state of inactiveness but to inspire positive activities, Tripathy added.

Hundreds of denizens and peace activists joined for celebration of the day. Give rest to fear due to nuclear power and arms and ammunitions, the volunteers appealed.

The presence of athlete coach Janmejaya Barik, human rights research scholar Sitakanta Tripathy, Tapan Bedi, Ashutosh and Ashirvad made the celebration more important.

Since no day in the world has been celebrated to spread the message of rest, this should be accepted universally and the United Nations should be informed about it, said freedom fighter Ramahari Goswami.

The Bhadrak district Collector and Superintendent of Police were also intimated about the celebration.
