The All-India Women Writers’ Meet concluded here on Friday with a lot of fervour. Renowned women writers from across the country read out their creations in different languages showcasing the richness of Indian literature. Notably, to observe the 60th anniversary of Sahitya Academy Bhopal, an All India Women Writer’s Meet was organised at Antarang Hall, Bharat Bhavan on Thursday. The two days event organised by Sahitya Academy and was all about sharing the literature works of various noted women writers across the country.
The programme was divided into various sections. During the first session the women authors read out the stories before the literature lovers of the city. Writers like Urmila Shirish read out the story in Hindi, Jayanti Naik in Konkani, Indira Jhan in Maithili, and Sadmu lepcha in Nepali language read out the different stories of different genres. This session was headed by a renowned writer Mridula Garg.
In the second session, the women writers shared their perspectives with each other on the topic ‘Being a woman and being a writer (Ek Stree Hona aur Ek lekhika Hona)’. Under this session, the women writers read out their articles and essays. Esther Siam read in English, Varsha Udalja in Gujarati, Damyanti Beshra in Santali and Vasanti in Tamil. This session was headed by Urvashi Butalia.
later, the Writer’s Meet was concluded with Poet’s Meet. Poets like Maafi Rojje Boro, Savita Singh, Savita Bhargava, RK Devrita Devi, Kalpana Jalindar, Harpreet Kaur, Nagratana Hegde, Draupadi Chandani, Mubeen Sadhika, and Mumtaz Peerbhay read out poems in languages like Hindi, Marathi, Bodo, Manipuri, Punjabi, Sindhi, Sanskrit, Tamil and Urdu.
