A 25-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling at Boria Basti village under Bokaro Thermal police station here on Saturday late night .The incident took place at the woman’s resident at 11 pm.
Deceased Rekha Devi alias Atta Devi, had been married to Manoj Yadav for the past six years. But, according to Rekha’ father lalu Yadav their marriage had not been a peaceful one and “My son-in law, Manoj Yadav, beat up my daughter and later strangulated her,” said her father. Rekha used to complain to her father often.
Yadav said “This incident happened late in the night on Saturday when I was out of her room but when I had gone her room at around 11pm , I found my wife hanging from the ceiling.
According to husband, Rekha was brought down from the ceiling immediately after she was rushed to the hospital. Manoj Yadav alleged, she was still breathing when we reached the hospital ,but the doctor declared dead.
Officer-in charge cum Inspector of Bokaro Thermal police station Rajesh Kujur said It is too early to comment on the motive behind the suicide .But we will know as soon as the investigation is over ,Kujur said .The body has been sent for postmortem.
