A 21-year-old youth died of cardiac arrest while practicing running at TT Nagar stadium under TT Nagar police station area on Wednesday. The youth was preparing for the physical test for the post of sub-inspector (SI) in police.
According to the police, the youth Suraj Vishnoi while running stopped suddenly and fell on the ground, other practicing players rushed to help him and took to nearby Government Katju hospital where he was referred to JP hospital where he was declared dead.
Police were informed and on the receipt of the information a police team reached and started the investigation.
The deceased was identified as Suraj Vishnoi who hailed from Harda and was preparing for competitive examinations. He used to live at a rented apartment at Shashtri Nagar.
During the investigation, police found that the deceased used to visit the TT Nagar stadium for running practice and on Tuesday evening he arrived on his scheduled time and after running for some time he sat on a bench in the stadium and later fell from the bench. As soon as the deceased fell people present in the stadium hurried to help him and took him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
In the preliminary investigation the reason of the death was found to be heart failure.
The police have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC and have started further investigation into the matter.
Police said that the post mortem report is awaited and more details of the death could be revealed after receiving the report. The roommates of the deceased would be questioned.
