In protest against the death of a 42-year-old Gangadhar Prajapati in road accident on Sunday near Hosir bridge under Gomia police station, the villagers here on Monday blocked the Gomia-Peterwar road for about six hours.Gangadhar Prajapati succumbed to his injuries at BGH hospital, Bokaro on Monday morning. Prajapati a resident of Bholadih, lalpania in Gomia block was injured when his motorcycle collided with police van at Hosir in Bokaro district on Sunday.
The agitators were demanding compensation for the victim’s of the family and construction of road breaker. Irate locals prevented movement of vehicles on Gomia-Peterwar road, which connect the state capital Ranchi .later Gomia block development officer Vinita Karkatta and circle officer Kamleshwar Narayan along with local Gomia police reached the spot to pacify the errant mob. The block was lifted only after they were assured by the concerned officials of fulfilling the demands.
Meanwhile ,a large queue of vehicles remained blocked, putting the traffic movement out of gear. According to reports, Gangadhar prajapati alighted from his motorcycle from lalpania to Gomia .As he was crossing the Hosir bridge ,a speeding police van knocked down him, he died in BGH hospital on Monday morning where he was brought for further treatment.The road block was lifted around 12 pm only after the intervention of BDO,CO and Gomia police.
