The team of University of Petroleum and Energy Sciences (UPES) has won the Go-Kart racing championship held at Bhopal recently. The student team of UPES titled ‘Blackbird’ won the championship which carried a cash prize of Rupees 1 lakh. This championship was organized by “Virtualis Motorsports” (VM) company.
The Director media of UPES, Arun Dhand informed that VM is Indore based organization promoted by Abhishek Mittal, this organization apart from their commercial vertical is also promoting industry – academia interface by organizing events which bring them together. He informed that 39 teams from various colleges and Universities across India participated in this championship.
Dhand further disclosed the vehicle “Blackbird” of the university with a fuel tank capacity of 4.5 litres achieved a maximum speed of 80 kms per hour was rated very highly by the judging panel on the parameters of acceleration, braking and handling. Apart from winning the Overall Championship the team also won the Best Business Plan and Best Aesthetics awards.
