Unitary University status for CET demanded

Thursday, 31 December 2015 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

The annual alumni meet of the College of Engineering and Technology (CET), Central chapter here was held recently.

Over a hundred alumni from across 35 batches of the CET, including Prof Saraju Mohanty from the USA and Factories and Boilers Deputy Director Dr Malaya Pradhan joined the meeting, which was inaugurated by CET Principal Prof PK Patra.

The alumni highlighted on various challenges, including academic, administrative and financial problems faced by the college for being dependent on the BPUT. They also discussed on other discrepancies faced by top students at the CET like lack of industry interface, research and project opportunities, proper infrastructure backing the newer departments, discrepancies in examination calendar, result declaration and delay in certificate validation, etc. The alumni recommended that autonomy of the college can only solve the problems.

The Principal also made the forum aware about the present status of the college under different fields and recent developmental activities.

The meeting concluded with the alumni creating a roadmap for making CET a unitary university under the name Odisha Technological University (OTU) in order to make the college gain national visibility and standards.
