The Balangir police on Sunday arrested two persons on the charges of sending death threat SMSs to Kantabanji BJD MlA Haji Mohammad Ayub Khan on November 23.

Sindhekela police station officials arrested the two persons, who belong to Chandutara village under the same police limits.

The duo impersonating as Maoists had allegedly sent text messages on the MlA’s mobile phone and warned to kill him within 10 days.

On the following day of receipt of the SMSs, the MlA had registered a case at the Kantabanji police station on November 24.

Sources said Khan had got the messages in a gap of nearly six hours on November 23. However, he got to know about the threat messages at night.
