Despite persisting Naxal insurgency issue in South Bastar (Dantewada) and Narayanpur, the successful implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA) has helped the above mentioned districts bag National Awards for Chhattisgarh, a Government statement informed on Friday.
The Central Government will felicitate Chhattisgarh on February 2 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of implementation of MNREGA. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will honour the two districts of the State on February 2.The statement said that Dantewada district bagged the award for organic farming and Sheersagar scheme.
The Narayanpur district bagged the award for providing employment to 13,714 families and creating 8.85 lakh man days of employment during the fiscal year 2013-14. Most of the beneficiaries were women. Chief Minister Raman Singh and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ajay Chandrakar expressed their happiness for both the districts bagging the National Award. They congratulated the administration of both the districts, panchayat representatives and officers-employees connected with MNREGA.
Chhattisgarh is being felicitated for the second time in the same year. The State has bagged five MNREGA awards till now.Meanwhile, in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Chief Minister Anandiben Patel gave away the National Award for e-Governance for ‘Geographical Information System’ to Chhattisgarh.The award was received by Principal Secretary of Information Technology Department Chhattisgarh, Aman Kumar Singh.
