With the wedding site of Chief Minister Harish Rawat's daughter having turned into a fort with heavy deployment of forces, diversion of routes connecting different parts of the city on an unprecedented scale, coupled with frequent VIP movements, constricted mobility in Haldwani on Wednesday.
Under the traffic diversion plan, all the vehicles coming from rest of the Kumaon hills, including Almora and Bageshwar districts, , were asked to follow Gola bypass route from Nariman crossing, Kathgodam, to reach Haldwani city, while the hill- bound motorists were to take the Chorgaliya- Gola bypass- Nariman crossing, Kathgodam route to move ahead.
Similarly, the vehicles coming from Kaladhungi area were asked to move via Pilikothi- ITI crossing- Teenpaani- Bareli Road-Gola bypass to repair to the hill destinations like Almora and Bageshawr in Kumaon region.

Since it was a VIP programme the enforcement agencies took no chances to ensure smooth and peaceful passage of the same. Therefore, the 200 meter radius of the marriage site on the Haldwani- Nainital Road was declared a no- parking zone. Thus, parking arrangements for about 20,000 vehicles carrying guests were made in a nearby school premises and other areas around Kathgodam.
