A total of 72468 candidates were registered for the UTET level I examination out of which 4653 candidates remained absent. In the level II examination 68950 candidates appeared against total enrollment of 72099. The secretary of UVSP, D R Mathela told The Pioneer that more than 93 percent candidates appeared in the examination which is a healthy sign. He said that UVSP would now engage itself for evaluation and declaration of the result. On the question of protest from many quarters for conducting the examination on Wednesday instead of Sunday, Mathela said that UVSP did its best to find a suitable date on Sunday but it could not be done due to clashing of examination date with other examinations. “Further we were under pressure to hold the examination early by the High Court”, he added. The conduction of examination on a weekday affected the academic environment of the state as the schools which were the examination centres remained closed on the day.
In Dehradun district 50 examination centres were set up by the UVSP to conduct the examination. Coming out of his examination centre of Doon City Montessori School located at Mehuwala Mafi, Prateek Singh Negi of Defence Colony said that the questions in the science and mathematical ability section of examination were hard to crack. Sunita Sharma a resident of Kargi Chowk area said that the questions of language were easier and as there was no negative marking she attempted all the questions.
