Odisha cyber cops have arrested a Ranchi computer engineer from Mumbai for designing and hosting a fake website of the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE). Sana-ul-Haq (25) was brought here on Monday and produced in a court from where he was sent to jail.Sources said the youth, a graduate in computer engineering from a private institution in Bhubaneswar, was working in a Mumbai firm. Basing on a complaint from the OJEE authorities, the cyber cops were investigating into the case for over a year now.

The OJEE authorities had stumbled upon this fake website in January last year, and initially a police complaint was lodged at the Airfield police station at Bhubaneswar. However, the cyber cops took up the matter subsequently and booked the youth under several Sections of the IPC and the IT Act.Investigating officers pointed out that the motive behind hosting such a fake website was to prepare a database of students aspiring to pursue courses in engineering, and the youth must have been doing this in connivance with a private engineering college in the State, the sources said, not ruling out more arrests in this connection.
