Amidst speculations that senior Congress leader Sunil Jakhar could be re-appointed as the Congress legislature Party (ClP), Jakhar on Sunday made it clear that he was interested to get the post again.
A day before the Congress high command announced the party’s new structure on Friday, Jakhar, along with the then Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa, was made to put in their papers. Though the central leadership has announced Capt Amarinder as new party chief, it has hold back the name of new ClP leader.
Speculations are that the high command would stick with Jakhar as its choice for the ClP leader. “I am thankful to the party high command for giving me an opportunity to serve as ClP leader for more than three years and now it is time to give this responsibility any other party leader,” Jakhar said, who was in Jalandhar to attend Shaheed Parivar Fund function organised by a media group.
Pointed out if party high command would offer him the same post, Jakhar said “I have resigned as ClP leader when I was told to resign, where is the question of reappointing me!”
