State Police likely to file chargesheet soon

Friday, 31 July 2015 | MANOJ KUMAR | Dehradun

The SIT formed by the State police is likely to file charge-sheet regarding the Ruby Choudhary case in a week or so. Sources revealed that SIT has not collected any concrete evidence against the lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (lBSNAA) officials whom Ruby had charged with facilitating her to stay there clandestinely.

Observers say SIT members failing to collect evidences to confirm the complicity of lBSNAA would make the case end with a whimper.  It is likely that the chargesheet to be filed in the court would contain some innocuous references to minor negligence on the part of the academy officials, said one of them.

It should be mentioned here that the State police formed-SIT led by CBCID in-charge Shahjahan Ansari in April. On the hmedical ground, Ansari was replaced with additional SP Mamta Vohra in May.

The State police had changed the investigating officer the second time when it made SSP at Police Headquarters Dr Sadanand Date as the new IO of the case after Chief Minister Harish Rawat had rejected the state police's recommendation for a CBI inquiry. The decision to change the in-charge was inevitable with the State Government and the police department facing flaks from all quarters for having failed to crack the case and fix responsibility.

Choudhary who had allegedly stayed in lBSNAA premises for about seven months while posing as an IAS probationer is now out of jail as she has recently secured bail from the district court.  SIT led by Date has recetly questioned  Ruby Chowdhary, it  is learnt.

Speaking of the matter, State DGP BS Sidhu said the SIT personnel had sent some evidences pertaining to this case to Dehradun based forensic science laboratories and CBI lab. "As Choudhary is now on bail it is not a compulsion for SIT to submit the charge- sheet within the stipulated 90 days. SIT may file the charge- sheet in a week after they receive forensic reports from the department concerned," he said.

The Academy security officer Satyaveer Singh had registered a case under Sections 420/467/468/471 of the IPC against Choudhary in the Mussoorie Police Station on April 2 evening. Ruby was arrested on April 3 night.
