Haryana Transport Department has started special buses for girl students studying in colleges in five districts of the State in the first phase.
Haryana Transport Minister, Krishan lal Panwar on Wednesday said that provision of safe and convenient transport facility to girls studying in colleges is one of the priorities of the State Government.
Panwar said special buses have been started in the districts of Faridabad, Palwal, Nuh, Ambala and Panchkula in the first phase.
He said that in 2016, facility of special buses would be extended to girls studying in technical and other colleges in the remaining districts. "In this direction, a report pertaining to requirement of special buses in all districts has been sought from Education and Technical Education Departments," the minister added.
The Transport Minister said that a woman security guard would be deployed in these special buses for the safety of students. He said Chief Minister Manohar lal has issued directions to the Director General of Police in this regard. Women security guards would soon be deployed in the special buses in these five districts, he added.
Panwar said that the State Government is making efforts to further improve the public transport system and in this direction, report has been sought from senior officers to start e-ticketing service on PPP mode in the New Year.
