Tuesday, 30 June 2015 | Anshu Nidhi | Ranchi

Southern, Eastern and Western parts of the country being a hub for the medical as well as technical education are attracting students in largescale. States like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, in south and West Bengal, Odisha, in east have become hottest destination for the students pursuing medical and technical education. They provide well renowned educational centres moreover they provide better infrastructure, facilities, more exposure and good placements which are essential for good  medical and technical education.

Students aiming for a career in arts and commerce at an undergraduate level can have an easy accessible option as the state is well developed in these fields but it gets difficult for the student seeking career in medical and technical field as the state lacks in providing education.

“It is not possible for everyone to qualify in IIT exams. I am happy that technical education is not limited to IITs, NITs and BITs. Though I was disappointed at seeing my JEE results yet I am happy that I qualified other engineering examinations. As Jharkhand lacks in good engineering colleges I have decided to pursue my further studies from Bangalore,” said Tripti Mishra, a student who opted for Electrical and telecommunication engineering from Ranchi.

Today students’ demand is not only limited to education but to luxury of education. “Jharkhand has got very few engineering colleges which provide a limited facility and faculty members. The infrastructure does not meet the expectations moreover the ultimate aim after completing B. Tech is to have a good placement and the history of the state is not so encouraging regarding placement. As a result it becomes necessary to migrate towards the technical hub like in south and east to have good future in technical education,” said Swabhiman Kumar a student who opted for Mechanical engineering from Deoghar.

Not only technical students but also the medical students show their disrest as Jharkhand has a very few medical colleges. “The state has got only countable number of medical colleges. Moreover these colleges provide very limited departments. Also it lacks in imparting the basic necessities, opportunities skilled faculty members proper infrastructure. As an impact of which students are moving to different medical destinations in Western, Southern and Eastern parts of the country,” said Ruhi Singh from Jamshedpur.

On the other hand, they talked about the inconvenience, lack of facilities and placement problems in the state. Moreover they feel that the medical and engineering students in the state are given less exposure as compared to the students of east west and south. All these reason compel to the migration of students in east, west and south in search of better medical and technical career.
