A newborn male baby was sold to an issueless couple in industrial Jharsuguda town last week as alleged by local residents. After receiving the complaint, the district administration took it seriously and rescued the child from Buromal under the Jharsuguda police limits on Tuesday. District Child Protection Officer Sunando Maharana and SDPO BK Nanda took the initiative for rescue of the child, who was admitted at the Jharsuguda headquarters hospital. The parents and the receiver of the child were detained at the Town police station for further inquiry, said police.
Pabitra Bagh and his wife Suresheswary allegedly sold their child to Rambali Saha and his wife Rekha, police said.
