The Basti Basindanka Milita Manch has strongly opposed the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government’s decision to withdraw the Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) from the Centrally-sponsored schemes and decided to stage mass agitation to protest the move in coming days, said Manch joint convenors Khageswar Sethy and Sheikh Abdullah on Sunday.
“The previous Government had decided to provide housing in urban slums in the country free of cost through the RAY. While the process of identification of beneficiaries and even construction of pakka houses in some cases had began, the hasty decision of the present Government would deprive poor people of the benefit,” lamented Sethy.
