Congress legislative Party (ClP) leader TS Singhdeo on Saturday urged Chief Minister Raman Singh for clearing payment of all pending salaries to Shikshakarmis in Chhattisgarh. In a letter to Chief Minister, Singhdeo said that he has been informed that Shikshakarmis have not been paid salaries for past five to six months.
“Sikshakarmis are not getting salaries on regular basis due to which they are facing serious problems. Their financial, mental and social status have all been affected to long delay in payment of their salaries,'' Singhdeo wrote.
He further outlined the fact that Sikshakarmis have been posted in remote and forested regions of the state where they are engaged in teaching. From time to time they are also given the responsibilities for executive various schemes run by state and central government. Despite these facts, government has not been able to pay them salaries, he added.
Singhdeo pointed out apathy on the part of Government as reason for non-payment of salaries. Under the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Siksha Mission’ central government is providing its contribution on time, however due to indifference of State Government salaries are not being distributed, he claimed.
Congress demands that Sikshakarmis are engaged in important work of providing basic education to children of state, so their pending salaries should be paid immediately and in future it must be ensured that they get salaries regularly, he said.
