In a move to ensure better facilities to passengers, General Manager of South East Central Railway (SECR) Satyendra Kumar recently held a meeting of newly constituted Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) in Bilaspur.
The meeting chaired by Kumar was attended by around 18 ZRUCC members including, Durg MP Tamradhwaj Sahu, MP (Balaghat) Bodh Singh Bhagat, MP (Gadchiroli) Ashok Mahadevrao Nete and MlA (Takhatpur) Raju Singh Kshatri.
Besides, taking series of suggestions moved by members of the committee, Kumar gave detailed information about achievements and progress of various ongoing projects.
Meanwhile, Kumar highlighted that SECR managed to ensure loading of freight weighing around 123 million tonne in financial year 2015-16, progress of track doubling and tripling work ongoing in Bilaspur division, changes ongoing in Nagpur division and modification to be done in railway stations of A-1 and A category under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
Similarly, he also provided details about efforts being taken by the zone for energy conservation.
In interest of passengers, SECR has provided as many as 1651 additional temporary coaches to trains on temporary basis, 19 permanent coaches, introduced around 129 special trains to cater rush and extension was given to six trains in 2015-16, added the officer, elaborating that onboard house-keeping facility was provided in 20 trains of SECR and mechanized cleanliness facility in 36 trains.
He further added that for better ticketing service, SECR will soon be installing automatic ticket vending machine and coin operated ticket vending machine at 12 railway stations of Bilaspur division, 10 under Raipur division and 16 under Nagpur division.
