The State Government on Wednesday increased seat reservation percentage for SC and ST students in Government educational institutions to 38.75 per cent. This would be applicable from current (2015-16) academic session in all Government institutions like Plus II, Degree and Post-Graduation colleges and Medical, Engineering, Technical and other professional institutions. For ST students the reservation facility was increased from 12 per cent to 22.5 per cent while for SC students it was fixed at 16.25 per cent against eight per cent norm. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday approved a proposal in this regard.
