Wednesday, 30 September 2015 | Staff Reporter | Kondagaon

In compliance with the directive of Konta Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sandeep Thakur, Revenue Department officials seized eight tractors engaged in illegal sand excavation and transportation from the bank of the Shabari river.

According to sources, illegal sand excavation and transportation was allegedly being carried out by the sand mafias in the Nagar Panchayat for a long time. The illegally excavated sand was being transported to Andhra Pradesh and other States also.

Taking a serious cognisance of the matter, the district administration has once again instructed the Revenue Department officials to take tough action. Following the instructions, the revenue department officials, accompanied by police personnel, seized eight tractors loaded with sand excavated illegally from the Shabari River.

Though, some of the mafia persons managed to escape from the spot, the police and revenue department officials succeeded in seizing the tractors from the roads.
