RDA presents Budget of Rs640 crore

Raipur Development Authority (RDA) on Monday presented a Budget of Rs640 crore for the financial year 2015-16. The Budget has provisions for construction of two bus terminals, development of Kharun river bank, construction of proposed MR Road according to Master Plan, reconstruction of EAC Colony, a Transport Nagar in Tatibandh, a new garden besides city development plan-05 on the lines of Kamal Vihar, officials said.

The Budget was presented by CEO of Raipur Development Authority MD Kavre in presence of RDA Chairman SS Bajaj and other senior officers. Officials said that in the Budget RDA has planned to spend more than Rs320 crore in various development and construction works and this accounts to 51.47 per cent of the total Budget. RDA will also have to pay Rs175 crore for debts of the Kamal Vihar Scheme which accounts to 28.06 per cent of the Budget.

For payment of salary and allowances to the RDA staff 2.22 per cent of the Budget will be used while there is a provision of 3.60 per cent amount of the Budget for administrative expenses.The officials said that RDA expects to get more than Rs363 crore from sale of plots and houses and this will be about 58.32 percent of the Budget.  RDA will get Rs162 crore as proposed loan and this will be about 26 percent of the Budget. It will get about Rs49.28 crore from miscellaneous income receipts.

In the Kharun river development plan RDA will develop the banks on both sides of the river with features like boating, cycling track and fun park besides plans for commercial, residential and offices. The Budget has provision of Rs550 lakh for this, officials said.

The EAC colony behind the Collectorate will be remodeled on 18.89 acres of land with residential and commercial besides an auditorium with 1500 seating capacity. A provision of Rs220 lakh has been made in the Budget for this. To reduce the pressure on city roads, construction of bus terminals have been proposed at Dumartarai and  Mahasamund Road with a provision of Rs50 lakh in the Budget, officials added.
