Uttarakhand received moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated places on Sunday night and Monday. Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre has forecast light to moderate rainfall along Char Dham Yatra routes, in particular, and other parts of the State, in general for Tuesday, bringing down the teperature.By 8.30 am on Monday, 91.8 mm rainfall was received in Devprayag, 70.8 mm in Dehradun, 82 mm in landsdown, 35 mm in Garud (Bageshwar), 25 mm in Kausani, 31.0 mm in Mussoorie, 1.4 mm in Haridwar, 11.4 mm in Almora, 2.8 mm in Pithoragarh, 14 mm in Tehri, 11.4 mm in Pauri, 17 mm in Rudraprayag, 20 mm in Kapkot and trace in Pantnagar, Chamoli and Nainital.
Following Sunday night’s heavy rainfall, several places in the State capital were waterlogged, leading to the residents face inconvenience. Roads being slippery, the people driving cars or two-wheelers faced problems. Rains and water-logging spawned traffic snarls along several thoroughfares skirting through the city.
Anand Sharma, director of Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre, said light to moderate rain/thunderstorm has been forecast for many places. Heavy rain fall may occur in Almora, Nainital, Pithoragarh and Champawat districts of Uttarakhand. The higher reaches of the mountainous districts of the state received light to moderate rainfall while light rainfall occurred at few places in the plain districts on Monday. Dr Sharma said that the maximum and minimum temperatures in Dehradun were recorded at 28.0 degree Celsius and 19.4 degree Celsius respectively on Monday.
