Police slap cases against MP, MlAs, WODC chief

Police have slapped several cases under the Railway Protection Act (RPA) against activists and leaders including an MP, two MlAs and the WODC Chairman for participating in a Rail Roko agitation that began here on January 13. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has registered cases against Bargargh BJD MP Prabhash Kumar Singh. Jharsuguda Congress MlA Naba Kishore Das, Brajrajnagar BJP MlA Radharani Panda, WODC Chairman Kishore Kumar Mohanty and several other leaders under Section 147(A) of the RPA Act.

According to RPF officials, the Rail Roko was staged under the leadership of these leaders at the Chowkipara railway level-crossing and some express and passenger trains were detained in both Howrah-Mumbai and Jharsuguda-Sambalpur routes. Passengers suffered a lot of problem and train services were affected for more than four hours, an RPF official said.
