A hardcore Maoist who was involved in looting of arms from guards at the residence of BJP leader and former MlA Manturam Pawar was nabbed during a searching operation carried out in insurgency-hit Durgkondal region of Kanker district, police said on Monday.
According to the police, the ultra was identified as Murra Vedga alias Murra Usendi resident of Chhindpadar village.
“Usendi was nabbed by a joint team of Border Security Force (BSF) and District Police at Durgkondal falling under the limits of Bande Police Station limits,” Station House Officer (SHO), Bande, Naresh Deshmukh informed.
Police had received intelligence inputs that a hardcore Naxal was coming towards Dugkondal on a bike from Narayanpur. Accordingly, check posts were set up and he was nabbed before Chhindpadar village under Bande police station limits, the SHO said. Police was on the look out for Usendi since a long time.
The insurgent was involved in attack on police party in Bande wherein the then Bande SHO had died in month of February this year.
The Maoist had also looted weapons from guards in the house of BJP leader Manturam Pawar and also participated in Naxal attack on BSF camp at Betia, Deshmukh said.
Usendi was President of Jantana Sarkar -the governing system adopted by banned outfit Communist Party of India (Maoist) in Chhindpadar region, he said.
