PM interacts with CSs to review PRAGTI's progress

To review the progress of   Pro-active Governance & Timely Implementation (PRAGTI), Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the Chief Secretaries through video-conferencing on Wednesday during which the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand Shatrughan Singh apprised him of the progress of MNREGA, PDS, medical college and food park.

During the interaction, Haridwar Food Park being acclaimed as the best in the country,  the Prime Minister expressed happiness over this.

Currently, five out of 39 mega food parks have been constructed that include Haridwar Food Park. Besides, another food park is being constructed in Udham Singh Nagar and it is set to be completed by July 2016. Union Government’s Mega Food Park Schemes provide for central processing centre, packaging, environment security system, cold chain, quality control lab, trade facilitation centre, preservation/collection centre and some others.

CS disclosed that for Almora, the Medical College is being constructed at the cost of Rs189 crore with the help of  the Union government’s sanctioned money of Rs113.4 crore. However, the state has received just Rs11 crore out of Rs113.4 crore so far , he rued while  stating that they had utilised all the released money. “As far as the construction of medical colleges is concerned, we have completed 25 per cent of the work so far. Besides, we are in the process to increase the capacity of Government Medical College at Haldwani from150 seats from  the existing 100 seats. For this, the state has sent a proposal worth Rs207 crore to the Union Government. Meanwhile, the technical Evaluation committee has evaluated this,” he added.

Under MNREGA, beneficiaries are being linked with Aadhar cards under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and we will complete the work by March 2016, he said, adding the PDS online sanction system will be functional by January 2016. He further said that  ration cards are being computerised. He assured that in the next three months, they would make online of supply chain between godowns to fair price shops.

During the video conferencing, among others  principal secretary medical education Omprakash, principal secretary Forest Ranbir Singh and principal secretary Radha Raturi were present.
