PM, Bachchan urged not to participate in Hindi Conference

Monday, 31 August 2015 | SR | Bhopa

Accusing Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for his Government's alleged role in the infamous Vyapam scam, former MlA Paras Sakhlecha and RTI activist Ajay Dubey on Sunday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and actor Amitabh Bachchan not to participate in the World Hindi Conference in Bhopal.

While talking to media persons here, the two whisteblowers said the real culprits in the scam have not been identified and booked as yet and now when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was probing the matter, it would not be appropriate for the Prime Minister to come and inaugurate the event, which may be interpreted as his support to the State Government.

They stated that when the Prime Minister refrained from making any comments on Vyapam, let alone take the Chief Minister to task, he should at least not be seen standing by the Shivraj Government at a time when the CBI inquiry was on into the scam.

The Vyapam scam, admission and recruitment scandal, has ruined the careers of thousands of youths.

Sakhlecha and Dubey also accused veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, who is supposed to attend the valedictory session of the conference as the chief guest, of remaining tightlipped on the scam and its impact on the youth even though his wife Jaya Bachchan completed her schooling from the state.

The whistleblowers in the multi-crore scam said that they have reached out to both Modi and Bachchan on social media as well. "If they don't cancel their engagement at the conference, we would hold a dharna in protest from September 9 to September 12," they told reporters.
