Punjab’s city dwellers got some relief on Thursday with the State Government announcing that it could deposit arrears of house tax, due up to March 31, 2013, without interest and penalty by August 17 this year. They have been given an option to deposit one-time amount and enjoy this relaxation, said the State local Government Minister Anil Joshi.
He said that all residents, who have to pay arrears of house tax due up till March 31, 2013, can deposit the same without penalty and interest to their respective Municipal Corporations, Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayats by August 17. The Minister also clarified that after the due date, punitive action would be taken against defaulters.
