With teary eyes, Daltonganj’s Annapurna Devi came to the weekly CM Janta Darbar this Wednesday, requesting labour Minister Raj Paliwar to locate her eldest son Ajay Kumar, who has been missing for almost a month now.
Ajay, working as a peon in Jharkhand legislative Assembly, left for his workplace on December 2 and has not returned home till date.
Attempts to reach him on his mobile phone have been unsuccessful by far, informed Ajay’s father Bhola Prasad, a kerosene oil vendor in Daltongunj. “We filed a missing complaint at Jagannathpur police station on December 4, after Ajay did not return home for a whole day. Till now, we have got mere assurances from police personnel there, who claim they are trying to locate Ajay through his mobile phone,” Prasad said.
The grief-stricken parents have done everything in their power to find out where Ajay is. On checking the attendance register, they found that Ajay has last reported for his job on December 1. After that, they have met Assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon, who assured them of every help possible.
“The Speaker asserted that he will try to find out Ajay’s whereabouts and that we should also carry on with the search. We have even met his seniors, but that did not bear any results yet,” said Devi, who had come to the public court for the second time with her pleas.
listening to their requests, Paliwar called up Director General of Police, asking him to take necessary action to locate the missing State Assembly employee.
Yadunandan Pathak, former District Head for Bharatiya Janata Party in Giridih, came to the public court complaining that purchasing centres for paddy are yet to be opened in 13 blocks of the district.
“Purchasing centres had to be opened by December 15 for purchasing paddy from farmers, but only two blocks – Bagodar and Bengabad – have these centres as of now. And, the reason behind this delay is the lack of cooperation between District Supply Officer and District Coordination Officer. Any further delays will result in losses to the farmers and unavailability of foodgrains for retail,” Pathak said.
Coming to know of the issue, labour Minister had instructed Giridih Deputy Commissioner Umashankar Singh to look into the matter and resolve any hurdles swiftly, he informed.
The family members of Hussain Khan, the home guard jawaan who was arrested on charges of extortion on behalf of luvkush Sharma, met the Minister, also visited the Darbar claiming that he is being wrongly associated with the wanted criminal by Sant Kumar Pandey to gain the upper hand in a land dispute.
Sabila Khatoon, Khan’s wife, blamed Pandey for lodging a false complaint of extortion against her husband so that he can take over the 90 decimal land plot in Chiraundi which belonged to her paternal grandmother. Although, his past record points towards the complaints against Khan being true, his wife and sisters-in-laws remained firm on their claims of him being innocent.
Paliwar assured them of thorough investigation in the matter after talking to Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar.
