Chief Minister Raghubar Das’ call to administration for playing proactive role in reaching out the citizens seems to gathering steam. Palamu District administration while responding to the need of the hour has taken steps which would take recent relevant Government decisions, pro-people initiatives and information about welfare measures to the villagers.
Palamu DC K Srinivasan drove down to Dwarika, 58 kilometers away from Daltonganj, on Sunday and interacted with the motley crowd of people there. Srinivasan’s stress there on the demands and aspirations of the villagers and exchanged ideas freely and fearlessly. Dwarika is known as highly naxal infested village whose panchayat Kekargarh is the poppy field of the CPI Maoists.
Bachhu Pd Yadav a resident of Kekargarh wanted connectivity for Kekargarh as any patient in case emergency has to be transported on shoulders to Panki for treatment. Imran Ansari demanded power connection for the village while another resident Janki Gupta complained about teachers not teaching the Government High School for days. Some other villagers wanted the revival of redundant water bodies here.
Srinivasan later told The Pioneer, “My officers accompanying me like education officer, health officer, food and civil supplies officer, social security officer, drinking water officer, social welfare officer etc gave a brief account of the schemes for the people but my main thrust is what the public want here and accordingly the schemes as suggested by people here will be implemented or executed.”
Kekargarh panchayat that comes under Dwarika village has been adopted by Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Pd Sahu who also accompanied the DC to gauge peoples’ demands. Sahu selected Kekargarh panchayat only this June under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna.
“Kekargarh is a neglected place all these years and that is the reason why we have selected this,” said Sahu.
However, the administration looked prompt and the DC made a note of the demands and complaints raised by the villagers.
