One killed, 6 injured as dumper hits trekker in Gomia

One woman was killed and about half a dozen persons  received injuries, when a coal dumper hit a trekker as it was proceeding to Tulbul under the Gomia police station of the Bokaro district here on late Monday night, said police sources.

In addition to this about half a dozen passengers of the trekker were injured, one of whose condition is stated to be critical and was referred to the RIMS, Ranchi, after initial treatment at the Gomia sadar hospital here.

Of the dead,one was identified as Sukurmani Devi, wife of Mangra Manjhi, who died on the way of RIMS.

According to police and eyewitness, the accident occurred at 8pm on Monday, when they were returning from Budhgadda village of Nawadih block to their house Tulbul.

When they reached near Miabandh area of Gomia block, a dumper  (JH 09-9214)coming towards Gomia lost control, owing to high speed and hit the trekker bearing registration number BR-14B-1282.

Immediately, after the accident both the drivers escaped from the spot.

Police seized both the vehicles and sent the body to Tenughat Sadarhospital for post-mortem examination. The police said that the body has been identified.
