One held for defrauding people in land deals

Friday, 31 July 2015 | PNS | Dehradun

Uttarakhand police has arrested one Praveen Gaur, resident of Raipur for allegedly selling land with forged documents. He was allegedly selling lands which he had registered in his wife’s name in 2006 repeatedly to buyers, producing forged documents. Gaur and his wife Priyanka had allegedly duped four persons of lakhs.

SIT booked both husband and wife under sections 2/3 of Gangster Act, said Garhwal Range IG/DIG Sanjay Kumar Gunjyal while interacting with media persons on Thursday. Four cases of land forgery were reported against Gaur and his wife in Raipur Police Station over the past three years. However, Priyanka is absconding.

In their written complaint to Police Station Raipur, Premdai and Deepa Rana, residents of Rudraprayag, stated that they had got registration of lands (separate two plots measuring 192.19 square metres) at Maujapur, Raipur from Gaur in January 27, 2011. Both had paid `4.22 lakh each to Gaur. But Gaur did not allow them to take possession of the sold lands. Based on written complaints, two cases under sections 420/467/468/471/120b/504/506 of IPC were registered against Gaur and his wife Priyanka in the police station Raipur this year.

In course of investigation, SIT found that Gaur had registered the same land in the name of his wife Priyanka in 2006. Gaur had sold the same lands to Premdai and Deepa Rana in 2011 with false documents.

It was also revealed that Priyanka had also sold these lands of `13 lakh to Manju Jail, resident of Chaktunwala.

SIT has included Gaur’s property, including his house worth ` 1 crore, in the ambit of the investigation, IG Gunjyal said. He appealed to the people to inform the police if Guar had cheated them on lands sold on forged documents.

Investigation revealed that Gaur and his wife had duped two more  persons - DP Semwal, resident of Haridwar Road and Prabhat Kumar Sharma, resident of Keshav Colony- of `30 lakh and `49  lakhs respectively. Both had registered case in Raipur Police Station earlier. IG Gunjyal announced reward of `5, 000 to the team for arresting the accused.
